Moriichi - Tabata Station

It's the small revolving sushi restaurant in Tabata. Tabatha is the Yamanote line station, but it is well-known for nothing. But if you have this quality sushi restaurant, it's everything.

Good selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Servers and chef were patient and explained menu options allowing for dietary restrictions and allergies, even with the difficulty of a partial language barrier. Service was quick and efficient. Very affordable and tasty!

We are American tourists and we felt welcome, we sat ourselves and they provided us with a picture menu. They have hot water on tap at every seat and matcha powder to make tea. There’s a ginger in a box stored in front of you and wasabi on the conveyor belt. It was easy to pick up the plates to eat and we asked the waiter to order us an order of uni which was not on the belt. The uni was a little bitter but everything else was fantastic. Almost all of the fish was raw. They counted our stack of plates and charged us on the way out.

Definitely helps to know Japanese (we didn’t) and the kaiten rules, but nevertheless we felt very welcome and had great food and great time. By no means I’m a sushi expert, but all the pieces were delicious. And the dark rice used for nigiri gave it additional layer of flavour.

Fun quick delicious and good value sushi. They have a romaji + picture pointing menu, which makes ordering a breeze, despite the lack of a common language.

So my mom and I had 20 plates for ¥2600, despite it being Sunday we waited no longer than half an hour and were served some of top notch sushi for their cheap price point. Amazing!
